The task
Travel apps split into aggregators, where choice kills you, and showcases, where there is nothing to choose. BYRD was conceived in between: an app that walks a person from "I want to go somewhere" to a confirmed stay without losing them on the way. It is a concept — a project where we tested the idea and assembled the product end to end, from niche to design system.
The approach
Niche first: how people actually choose trips and where existing apps break them. From that grew the user journey — inspiration, shortlisting, comparison, booking — and the screens were designed to serve it.
What we did
Niche research. Competitors, scenarios, the failure points of existing products.
User journey. The route from a trip idea to a confirmed booking.
50+ screens. The full journey designed: search, collections, stay pages, booking, profile.
Design system. Components and rules the concept can grow into a product on.
The result
- the idea is tested on a full journey, not three pretty screens
- 50+ screens and a system ready to become a product
- the project received a design award
